LFW Marta Jakubowski AW18/19 – The power woman

Marta Jakubowski´s latest collection is an ode to her childhood power woman of the late 80s/early 90s, dedicated to her late mother.

Clear, bright colours – rather reoccurring in Jakubowski´s work – were prevalent, while the trip down the memory lane encountered a few Cher Horowitz´ copycats in vibrant tartan suits.
The collection featured several frilly dresses, multiple layering and the wide-legged trousers. A-symmetrical power suits offered a peek at the radiant peekaboo bras, revealing sexiness was epitomised in the oversized sweaters worn as minis.

The show was exuberant parade of female power and buoyancy, with models being all smiles and bouncy hair. They practically power-danced around the room to Whitney Houston´s “I´m Every Woman”. These girls knew what they wanted and were out to get it!

Even if the clothes were a resuscitation of a long gone trend(as fashion, in general, tends to be), the colour power and the confidence of the performance really injected the optimism and left you with an earworm of the early 90s disco tune.
